For me the forming of a new Albion Band on the leaving of the work at the National Theatre at the end of the 1970s was a massive change of a lifestyle and an introduction to a new set of musicians and friends. As the ‘80s developed so did my friendship with Dave Whetstone. Not only did he become my best friend but our partnership as joint composers became one of the chief identifiers of this band. Our wonderful songs were features of the early Albions and the two of us also spearheaded some original and melodic dance music. To meet up again with Dave at my 80th Birthday Bash brought back some wonderful memories – and I’m delighted that the re-union inspired him to team up once more with some of Albion’s finest, to record this glorious collection of music.
